Intruders Caught by Security Company's Technology

"FIC provided us with footage from their video monitoring, so we were able to identify the men and prove that they had indeed intruded onto the site with intent to steal."

A local logistics company is counting its blessings today after the security company protecting its premises helped identify and catch four intruders using its video monitoring and playback technology.

Four days ago, a flood left Precision Logistics without its fire and security alarms, making it vulnerable to theft and further loss. When the restoration company that was called in to start the clean-up arrived on scene and saw that the building and its premises were unprotected, they immediately called FIC's Site Security division.

"The owner of Precision Logistics informed us that valuable airplane parts were inside the building and in sea cans in the yard," explained the restoration leader. "We called FIC right away because disaster scenes like this are a magnet for people looking to take advantage of failed security alarms - especially in a bad neighbourhood like this one. We've worked with FIC on numerous occasions and they know how to protect a site."

FIC's security professionals arrived at Precision Logistics an hour later in marked security trucks and evaluated the situation. "We were dealing with a large building with multiple entrances, a lot of expensive product on the premises, and a bad neighbourhood, so Precision requested video monitoring to protect against further loss," recalled FIC's lead security expert at the scene.

FIC immediately set up a secure perimeter and assigned three security guards to control site traffic during the day, and two guards at night for ongoing perimeter checks and fire watch. "Precision was able to keep operating during most of the repair process, so we secured the site by keeping track of the employees, couriers, restorations staff, engineers, and the utilities guys going to and from the site."

FIC also set up its video monitoring equipment in multiple locations around the premises. "Usually just the presence of our marked security vehicles is enough to deter any intruders, but when the site contains valuable product and is in a bad neighbourhood, we like to have video presence for added security," explained FIC's lead security expert.

Sure enough, one night an FIC guard heard footsteps on the roof of the building. "I radioed my partner and he went into position to check it out. He saw four men in their twenties running away from the site. We were unable to apprehend them, but we did get a clear visual of each of the men once we reviewed our video playback." Police were called to the scene and Precision Logistics later used footage from FIC's video monitoring as evidence against the intruders.

"FIC provided us with footage from their video monitoring, so we were able to identify the men and prove that they had indeed intruded onto the site with intent to steal," explained Precision Logistics' lawyer. Video playback is one of the most conclusive pieces of evidence in theft and intrusion cases.

"We're really glad that FIC had the ability to install video monitoring, otherwise those intruders might have escaped and come back to try again," concluded the owner of Precision Logistics.
